OUR MISSION – The Wiregrass Pets Rescue and Adoption Center exists to provide humane care and shelter for the lost and abandoned companion animals, and to find loving homes for all adoptable pets.
From caring for pets in our shelter to pitching in at events, assisting behind the scenes, or helping with community outreach, Wiregrass Pet Rescue volunteers play an essential role in making a difference every day.
As a volunteer, the difference you make is felt by every dog and cat in our care, and by every family we support. By joining our team, you’re helping to give second chances, strengthen the bond between pets and people, and build a more compassionate Wiregrass community where every animal has the chance to thrive. 🐾
Volunteer Tasks
👩🦰 Adult Volunteers (18+)
Dog walking, playgroups, and exercise sessions
- Animal care volunteer (Kennel cleaning, feeding, and daily care)
Administrative support (phones, data entry, scheduling)
Transporting pets to vet appointments, foster homes, or events
Event setup, fundraising, and community outreact
🧑 Junior Volunteers (13–17)
- Dog walking, playgroups, and exercise sessions
- Pet Food and Resource Pantry Volunteer
- Event Volunteer
- Creating enrichment toys and treats for dogs & cats
- Assisting with light cleaning (stocking supplies, tidying common areas)
🐥 Kid Volunteers (12 & under, with adult supervision)
- Making toys, blankets, and enrichment items for pets
- Pet Food and Resource Pantry Volunteer
- Animal care volunteer
- Collecting donations (pet food, supplies, blankets)
- Reading to shelter pets (“Book Buddies” style programs)
Volunteer Opportunities
Adult Volunteers
Engage in meaningful activities like dog walking, cat cuddling, and assisting with office tasks or event planning to support our rescue efforts.
Junior Volunteers
Teen volunteers can participate in creating enrichment projects, helping at adoption events, and learning about animal care and teamwork.
Kid Volunteers
Young animal enthusiasts can contribute by making enrichment items, gathering donations, and joining family-friendly projects.
Transport Heroes
Help transport pets to vet appointments, foster homes, and adoption events. Your driving skills can save lives!
Event Volunteer
